Mara Corday was born in Santa Monica, California, USA, on January 13, 1930. Among her most notable work: The Giant Claw (1957), and Sudden Impact (1983). She began her career at the age of 17 as a dancer at the Earl Carroll Theater in Hollywood, then got small roles in cinema and television. She made her debut in the musical film Two Tickets to Broadway (1951). In 1955, she co-starred in the successful science-fiction horror film Tarantula!, which also featured Clint Eastwood, with whom she became friends. She also starred in a number of American Western films, such as Man without a Star (1955). In 1960, she starred opposite Steve McQueen in an episode of the series Wanted: Dead or Alive. In the early sixties, Mara withdrew from acting to take care of her family, and after the death of her husband in the mid-seventies, her old friend Clint Eastwood offered her to appear in his films, after which she appeared in The Gauntlet (1977). Mara's last film, The Rookie (1990), was also with Eastwood.
