A British actor born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom on October 30, 1925 and died in York, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom on April 21, 2005. He married Nina Brinkley (1956-1999), and they had two children; she was with him until her death. His most important works include Carry on Cruising (1962), Carry on Jack (1964), and The Jazz Age (1968). He became an English theater, film, and television actor, writer, and theater director. He graduated from St Peter's School in York. As a young man, he began his career at the Repertory Theater in Yorkshire, touring with a theater company headed by Jean Forbes. After performing military service, he moved to London, where he made his early appearance in the West End Theatre. In the early fifties, he presented his first television movie, Rush Job (1951). His first movie wasThe Whole Truth (1958), and his last movie was U-Turn (1973). His last appearance was the TV series The Chiffy Kids (1978). He devoted himself to writing and directing theatrical works. When his wife died in 1999, he retired from artistic work, and he died in 2005 at the age of 79.
