    Herbert Anderson was born in Oakland, California, USA on March 30, 1917, and died in Palm Springs, California, on June 11, 1994, of congestive heart failure. His most important work includes The Bride Came C.O.D. (1941), The Male Animal (1942), and Dennis the Menace (1959-1963). He signed a contract with Warner Bros. and made his film debut in The Fighting 69th (1940), and after a few minor roles, Anderson got his break in the movie Navy Blues (1941), then in The Male Animal (1942). Anderson worked extensively in Broadway shows, and he also played many roles on television, the last of which was in The Waltons (1970), then devoted himself to theatrical work on Broadway, and after undergoing heart surgery, he retired from acting in 1982.
