An American film, television, and stage actress, vocalist, and songwriter, born on January 1, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She was raised in Portland, Oregon, where she formed a girl group known as Sunday's Child, and the band gained local fame before performing on national television shows and appearing with Bob Hope. In adulthood, Woods played the role of Fanta in the TV miniseries Roots (1977). She also appeared on stage as Dorothy in the first national tour production of The Wiz, and as The Moon in a stage production of the musical Caroline, or Change. Her best known works include Pandemically Single, and Unsung Hollywood. |
