An American actor born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA on April 5, 1906 and died in Woodland Hills Los Angeles, California, USA on September 17, 1995. He never married. His most important works include Waikiki Wedding (1937), College Humor (1933), The Bank Dick (1940), and Alice Adams (1935). He became a well-known American film and TV actor from the 1920s to the 1970s. He was born in Tennessee and grew up in Florida and attended St. Petersburg High School. He began his career during the silent film era, when he came to Hollywood during his summer vacation, accompanied by a friend. He debuted in the silent movie, The Mad Whirl (1925), and he started doing sound films. He played the roles of naïve rural boys. His first sound film was Why Be Good? (1929). He made many television roles and participated in many commercials, especially car ads. His last work was the movie Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979). He died at the age of 89.
