A French-American actress, born in Lille, France as Yola d’Avril Montiague. After the death of her father in 1923, she moved to Canada and became a dancer, then headed to Hollywood and appeared in small roles, such as in Vamping Venus (1928) and She Goes to War (1929).
When she signed with First National, she was neglected due to her French accent. Despite her appearance in more than 70 films, she never became a big star, and her final film was Little Boy Lost (1953). Then she retired and lived quietly in California with her second husband. She was married twice and had no children. Among her notable works are Monte Carlo Nights (1934), God's Gift to Women (1931) and Just a Gigolo (1931). She died in Port Hueneme, California, USA, on March 2, 1984.
