Shaimaa Saied |
A French actor, born in Croix, Nord, France. He worked at the French Embassy in London during the 1930s. He was also a reserve captain in the French army. He participated in the French Resistance during World War II, during the German occupation of France at the beginning of the war. He headed to the United States, originally as a French wine seller, but he turned to acting after appearing in a small role in the film Paris After Dark (1943), after which his film roles continued until American television broadcasts began after the war, and he appeared in over 100 TV series.
He was famous for playing the role of an arrogant French waiter, and was a nationally ranked croquet player. His last role was in Dragnet (1987). He's known for The New Avengers (1977), Against All Flags (1952), and The Jerk (1979). He married Melanie Marsac (1952-2007), who remained with him until her death, and he died 20 days later of a heart attack in Santa Rosa, California, USA, on May 6, 2007.
