An American political commentator, TV host, military historian, author, and retired United States Marine Corps officer, born on October 7, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. North is a member of the Republican Party. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served in the Vietnam War. In 1981, he began working at the National Security Council, where his work focused on Central America. However, he was dismissed in 1986 by then-president Ronald Reagan. Moreover, he was indicted in 1988 for conspiracy to defraud the government and resigned from the Marine Corps. North was found guilty, at his 1989 trial, of obstructing the United States Congress, destroying documents, and accepting an illegal gratuity, upon which he was sentenced to two years of probation. Two years later, all charges against North were dropped when a prosecution witness claimed that his testimony had been tainted. North started hosting a conservative radio talk show in the mid-1990s. He also co-authored a number of books, including a thriller series. The memoir "Under Fire: An American Story," which he co-wrote with William Novak, was published in 1991. In 2018, he was named president of the National Rifle Association (NRA), but he announced that he was resigning as president in 2019. He is known for The Americans (2014), JAG (1995-2002), and Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012).
