An American actor born in Indianapolis, on October 11, 1897.Collins is a bald, strong-looking American character who appeared on stage with a Cleveland Stock Company from 1922. His theater career has included hundreds of shows. During World War II, he helped the troops entertain soldiers. He studied drama at Carnegie Tech University School of Drama and attended Indiana University and Northwestern University. He presented a number of theatrical productions until he stood on Broadway, and performed hundreds of plays until the 1940s. His first film was Pie in the Sky 1935. His major works: Miss Sadie Thompson (1953), Bad Day at Black Rock (1955), Fail Safe (1964) and The Enemy Below (1957). He died in 1965 of a heart attack at the age of 68.
