An American actress, born in Kansas City, on August 29, 1926. She had never been married.She worked in film, theater and television in the 1940's and 1950's. Her mother was a skilled soprano, she taught her to sing and applied for her at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. She began her acting career on radio as a member of the daytime cast, and as a young teen performing in both dinner clubs and on Broadway in musical productions. She also participated in singing at USO concerts to entertain the Soldiers in the late World War II in China, Burma, India and Africa. She was awarded the TV Land Award in 2004. Her most important works are: June Bride (1948), Mother Is a Freshman (1949) and The Andy Griffith Show (1961-1966). She officially quit acting, and has lived since 1950 in North Carolina until today (2021).
