Swiss actor, born on July 15, 1908 in Baden, Switzerland. He was born to a Swiss father and an American mother. He received his drama training in both Berlin and Paris and was originally a theater and radio player (from 1945). He lived in Paris during World War II, and after the Nazi occupation of France, he was recruited as a live presenter for the regime-controlled TV station, Fernsehsender Paris. Among his important works are Le Silence de la Mer (1949), Delicatessen (1991), and Love and Death (1975). He died on July 25, 1996 in Hauts-de-Seine, France.
