An American actress, born in New York City, USA. Her most important works include The Ten Commandments (1956), The Undead (1957), and Private Parts (1972). Her career spanned 6 decades and she worked in theater, film, and television. She began her career in the early forties with theatrical appearances and appeared on the cinema screen in the mid-forties.
She appeared in small supporting roles and was famous for working in horror and fantasy films in the roles of witches and gypsies. She worked in Carnegie Tech and the Yale School of Drama and became a performer at the Turnabout Theatre. She wrote a children's book. Her first film was Tale of a Dog (1944), and her last work was the TV series True Colors (1991). She died in Santa Monica, California, USA on May 20, 1994 from complications of pneumonia.
