A German-American actor, born in Berlin, Germany. He is the son of the famous classical pianist Artur Schnabel. He and his family left Berlin when the Nazi regime came to power in 1933. He studied acting in London. He began his acting career in several theater and radio productions, as well as later film and television productions, but he never stopped working in radio and theater. He and his wife lived for 45 years in Connecticut, USA, before moving to Italy in 1992, where they founded a theater. He died on March 11, 1999, in Tremezzo, Italy, of a heart attack.
