A British actor born in Whitechapel, London, on January 26, 1931. He was born to a father who was a plumber. After attending a Catholic school, he worked as a painter, in a drawing office. Before joining the army, and while working in a factory, he attended the evening classes in theatrical acting, where he met his life partner, actor James Culliford. In 1958, he joined the Royal Court Theater, participated in many plays, and presented his important plays in London and New York. After 1960, his career moved more to film and television, appearing with Sean Connery (the original James Bond) twice in On the Fiddle (1961) and The Hill (1965). His most important works: The Taming of the Shrew (1967), The Hill (1965), West ll (1963) and The Sea Gull (1968). He died in 2003 at the age of 71.
