An American actress, born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, USA on October 21, 1940 as Ruby Joyce Wilbar. She died in Los Angeles, California, USA on October 1, 2003 of ovarian cancer. She was an American film, stage and television actress, and director. She was a beautiful and vibrant brunette who emerged in the 1960s. Born Julie Parish, she was the eldest of six siblings. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1959 and attended a modeling school in Toledo, Ohio. She won the "Model of the Year" competition, which was judged by Jerry Lewis. She played small roles in many works, such as It's Only Money (1962) and The Nutty Professor (1963). She appeared as a guest on TV series, until she played a small role in the movie Harlow (1965). She presented some films and many television series, worked in theater in Los Angeles, and won the Drama Critics Award, after her performance in Arthur Miller's play After the fall. She was a writer who wrote articles and reviews for many books. She started college at a late age, earned a degree in chemical dependency counseling, and worked for 9 years as a full-time staff counselor at the Haven Hills Shelter for Abused Women and Their Children. Her last work was The Politics of Desire (1998) and stopped working until she died in 2003 of ovarian cancer at the age of 63.
