A Lebanese politician and former military general who served as the 13th President of Lebanon from 31 October 2016 until 30 October 2022. He was born in Haret Hreik. He was close to the Lebanese Front and Israel during the first years of the war, and in 1984 he was appointed Commander of the Armed Forces. He studied at the College Des Frères Furn Al Chebbak in Beirut until 1955.
He entered the Military Academy in October 1955 and graduated from it with the rank of Lieutenant in the Artillery Corps on September 30, 1958.
He was appointed Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Information while retaining his military rank in the army. On November 30, 1968, he married Nadia El-Chami, with whom he had three daughters: Mireille, Claudine, and Chantal. He's known for Enough! Lebanon's Darkest Hour (2022) and State of Agitation (2020).
