An American actor, born in Spring Valley, Illinois, USA on November 17, 1913, as Chester Anthony Hayes. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA on June 9, 2000, following a house fire. He married Tillie (1941-2000), and she remained with him until his death. His most important works include From Hell It Came (1957), The Veils of Bagdad (1953), and McMillan & Wife (1974).
He was a professional wrestler turned actor and stuntman, and he provided supporting roles in film and television. His first work was A Foreign Affair (1948), and his most important series was Gunsmoke (1959-1975), where he participated in 61 episodes. His last appearance was in Americathon (1979) then he participated with his voice in American Pop (1981).
