An English-American actor, born on August 11, 1880, in Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom. He acted on stage since 1914 after spending twelve years performing in vaudeville, where he appeared with his wife in an act described as "Package of Smiles". Barnes appeared in more than 50 films between 1920 and 1935, mainly in comedies. Although he was born in England, he has lived in the United States since early childhood. He was married to stage actress Bessie Crawford until his death. They had two children. He died on March 30, 1937, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
