An American film and theater actor, born in Washington, D.C., USA. He was prolific in silent and talkie cinema. He began his activity on the stage in New York at the age of 17 years. He was a lead tenor in musicals, and started in silent cinema in 1914. He played the roles of drunk men in silent films, then he played the roles of the fat man, the bartender, and the stagehand. He married Gladys Marie Johnson. Among his notable works are: Yankee Doodle in Berlin (1919), The Song of the Flame (1930), and The Last Warning (1928). He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 16, 1971, at age 79.
