American actress who acted in silent movies and is considered the first Slovenian actress to succeed in Hollywood. She was born on July 16, 1897 in Žužemberk, Slovenia. She traveled to the United States at the age of 17 and moved to live with her aunt in San Francisco to become an actress. Her first film appearance was playing a Spanish dancer in The Flame of the Yukon (1917). She is known for The Lady Who Lied (1925), Back Fire (1922), and The Yokel (1926). She died on 12 July 1967 in Hollywood, California.
