British actor who was born in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on December 25, 1907 as Andrew John Maxton Cruickshank and died in Westminster, London, England, United Kingdom on April 29, 1988. He married actress Curigwen Lewis (1939-1988), and they had three children and she remained with him until his death. His most important works are Auld Lang Syne (1937), Kidnapped (1959), and Murder Most Foul (1964). He was an actor and writer who worked in film, theater and television, educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. He preferred theater to engineering and toured Britain with several theater companies, before working in the London theater in Shakespeare's plays. He spent a long time with the Old Vic in London as well as touring Europe and Egypt. He worked for BBC radio for 7 years, and he also worked in cinema since 1937, and he presented the movie Auld Lang Syne. He worked in cinema and theater until he was drafted during World War II, and after his discharge from the army, he continued his artistic career and also worked on television programs. He performed the roles of judges and doctors, and his most important television work is Dr. Finlay's Casebook (1962-1971), where he presented 191 episodes, and his last work was King & Castle (1988). He died at the age of 80.
