She was interested in acting from a young age, participating in school plays from elementary school to high school, after which she started college, majoring in business, and then switched to filmmaking two years later. After earning her degree in Moving Image Arts, she managed to get crew work in the art department in New Mexico, but she eventually moved to California. She worked for a few years in Los Angeles as an extra at Reelz Channel, getting her first role in Longmire.
