An American musician and actor, born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 1922. He was married to the actress Mamie Van Doren (1955-1961) and they had a child before their divorce. Ray received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his musical activity on records. He was an American conductor, trumpeter, songwriter, and actor, the last surviving member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He was born into an Italian family in Bentleyville, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where he studied trumpet with his father. In 1942, he joined the Navy when America entered World War II, and was demobilized in 1946. He worked in several bands, he even created his own band. He recorded in a recording company for 19 years, then ran another record company for 9 years. His band was one of the best major bands in the post-World War II era. In the cinema, he composed music for many films and television programs, and he also appeared as a music leader and actor in a number of films. The first of which was Sun Valley Serenade in 1941 and the last work he appeared in was the television program The Ray Anthony Show in 1968.Ray Anthony's major onscreen works include: Sixteen Candles (1984), Uncle Buck (1989), Cry-Baby (1990), and Ed Wood (1994).
