Italian actor and documentarist, born in Naples, Campania, Italy on May 19, 1930. He was married to actress Patricia Della Rovere (1954-1960) and they had a child, composer Fabio Cifariello Ciardi. He graduated from the Film Academy in Rome in 1953, and he moved in the sixties towards journalism and television documentaries. He made his debut in Eran trecento (1952), and his last appearance was in the Polish film Giuseppe w Warszawie (1964), then he turned to documentaries. Among his notable works are: Le ragazze Du San Frediano (1955), I masnadieri (1961), and In Search of the Castaways (1962). During his trip to Lusaka, Zambia to shoot a documentary, his plane crashed and he died at the age of 38 on December 12, 1968.
