English broadcaster, journalist, actor, director, producer, and writer, born on March 28, 1935, in Cudworth, Barnsley, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. The Guardian described him as the great British host of talks. He was educated at Barnsley Grammar School. At the age of 19, he became the youngest captain in the British Army.
