American actress born in Chicago, Illinois, on 12 May 1924. She attended Bennington College in Vermont, and later studied drama at Pasadena House, California. Her most notable works include Kiss Me Deadly (1955), The Twilight Zone (1959), Zero Hour! (1957), and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). She was married to writer and producer Sy Gomberg and later devoted her life to civil rights activism. She died on 4 April 2009 in Los Angeles, California.
