American actress, singer, dancer, and producer of British origins who was born in London, England, on September 24, 1921 as Sheila Margaret Stephens. She was married twice and got four children. Her notable works include Backfire (1950), Caged (1950), and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965). She immigrated to the United States with her parents just before the outbreak of World War II in 1939. She obtained the American citizenship in 1959. Her last work was Murder, She Wrote (1993). She retired as a devout Christian scholar and was one of the founding members of a charitable organization formed by the wives of Hollywood celebrities. She suffered from dementia in her later years, and died in 2014 at the age of 92.
