American actor, born in Barnwell, South Carolina, USA, on May 3, 1933.He had won a number of Grammy Awards as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He got married four times and had six children. Among his most significant works is Safe House (2012). He is considered the main predecessor of funk music, and the main figure of twentieth-century music in America and Europe, with a career that lasted more than 50 years. He died in Atlanta, on December 25, 2006, of pneumonia.
