He was an American writer, born on April 25, 1932, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, USA. He earned his high school diploma from Rhinelander High School in 1950 and his college degree from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in 1955. His book The Stalking Moon was turned into a movie in 1968, and his book Arrow in the Sun was turned into the film Soldier Blue (1970). Aside from the adopted films, he also wrote an episode of the television series Zane Grey Theatre (1957). He died of a stroke on July 13, 1993, at his home in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, USA.
