Irene Browne was a British actress, singer, stage and film dancer who was born in London, England, on June 29, 1896 as Irene Muriel Browne. She is better known for her roles in Drink (1917), Berkeley Square (1933), The Red Shoes (1948), and House in the Square (1951). Browne appeared in the West End theaters in London, worked 3 years in Australian theaters, spent two years in New York theaters, and returned to Britain to continue her theatrical work, participating in some silent films in British cinema, after which went to Hollywood when the talkies started having place and made many films during the thirties. Browne died of cancer in 1965 at the age of 69.
