Australian biologist, born in 1945 in Sydney, Australia. Veron specializes in the study of coral reefs. He attended Barker College in Sydney. He received a Commonwealth Scholarship as a gifted child and went on to study at the University of New England. He named about 20% of corals and built a taxonomic framework for reefs that is used all over the world. He established Orpheus Island Marine Station. He's known for Racing Extinction (2015).
