Australian biologist, born in 1945 in Sydney, Australia. Veron specializes in the study of coral reefs. He attended Barker College in Sydney. He received a Commonwealth Scholarship as a gifted child and went on to study at the University of New England. He is the first scientist...Read more to work at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (1974). He named about 20% of corals and built a taxonomic framework for reefs that is used all over the world. He established Orpheus Island Marine Station. He's known for Racing Extinction (2015).
