John Gardner was a British novelist. He was born on November 20, 1926, in Seaton Seaton Delaval, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom. He is known for The Liquidator (1965) and The Stone Killer (1973). He received his education at King Alfred's School in Wantage and at the University of Cambridge. Gardner started writing popular fiction in the mid-1960s. During World War II, he was a commando in the Royal Marines, serving in the Middle East and the Far East. Between 1981 and 1996, he authored 16 James Bond novels. John married Margaret Mercer. He died on August 3, 2007, in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom.
