British writer and actor, born on May 4, 1920, in London, England, as René Lucien Cadier. He became a chromatic harmonica player, performing professionally from the age of 17, before becoming a comedy writer and co-writing partner with producer and writer Ronald Wolfe. He co-produced television and feature films such as The Rag Trade and On the Buses, two of the most popular comedies of all time. He is known for On the Buses (1969 - 1973), The Rag Trade (1975-1977), and Holiday on the Buses (1973). He died on April 12, 2018, at the age of 98, in Surrey, England.
