She is a Lebanese activist in the social and human rights fields, born in Qom, Iran. She was born into a Lebanese Shiite family and moved to Lebanon at the age of fifteen. She adopted the social vision of her brother, Imam Musa al-Sadr, who encouraged her to join the Imam al-Sadr Foundation in Lebanon and to devote herself to social work and humanitarian aid. She obtained a BA and MA in arts and philosophy and a PhD in philosophy from the Lebanese University in Lebanon. She received an honorary doctorate from the Lebanese American University. She mastered several languages. She became the head of the Imam al-Sadr Foundation. She married the Lebanese writer and poet Hussein Charafeddine. She participated in the documentary Enough! Lebanon's Darkest Hour (2022).
