German actor, writer, and director born on 18 May 1939 in Othmarschen, Hamburg, Germany. He's the older brother of actor Marquard Bohm. He's the founding director of the Hamburg University Film School. In 2018, he received an Honorary Award of the German Film Academy for his services to German cinema. His works include Chetan, Indian Boy (1973), Yasemin (1988), and In the Fade (2017). He is married to Natalia Bowakow and they have six children.
