British actress, born in Camberwell, London, on August 27, 1926 as Patricia Doreen Coombs. Pat was a beloved English comedian, known for her work on television, radio and cinema. She started her career in the mid-fifties, after working as a nursery assistant, specializing in portraying the persecuted female in comedies. She took drama lessons during World War ll, then got a scholarship to train as an actress in the theater company LAMDA. Pat was never married, and did not have children. Among her notable works: Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Down Fall (1973), Till Death Us Do Part (1966-1975), and Comedy Playhouse (1963-1970). She died in Denville Hall, London, on May 25, 2002 of complications from emphysema.
