A German actor and writer, born on February 6, 1918, in Weimar, Germany. He was also a painter, as was his mother, Charlotte Buchheim. He was married to Diethild Wickboldt. He created the Museum of Imagination, now called the Buchheim Museum, in Bernried on Lake Starnberg, containing his collection of Expressionist paintings and graphics. He is known for The Boat (1981), Das Boot (2018-2022), and Das Boot (1985). He died on February 22, 2007, in Starnberg, Bavaria, Germany.
