Scottish actor, born on June 18, 1938, in Aberdeen, Grampian, Scotland. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and first worked in repertory theatre in Perth, Carlisle and Bromley. During his national service, Sheard was a Royal Air Force aircraftman. He was featured in many films and television programs, and was known for playing villains. Sheard portrayed Adolf Hitler five times in his career. He is known for Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Knights of God (1987), and Five Red Herrings (1975). He was married to actress Rosalind Allaway, and they had three children. He died from cancer on August 31, 2005, in Newport, Isle of Wight, England.
