He appeared in works such as Wake Up and Live (1937), and his music was featured in the soundtracks of works like A Safe Place (1971), Harlem Nights (1989), and I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now (1947). He married twice and had 4 children. He died in a plane crash on 1 October, 1912 in Los Angeles, California.
