An American actress, born on December 15, 1948, in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. She is a Jew who studied at West Haven High School. She continued her studies to obtain a Bachelor of Arts from Adelphi University. She began her theater career when she was in high school in her hometown, New Haven, Connecticut, and later at Yale University. At first, she dreamed of becoming a poet and journalist, but she later switched to stand-up comedy and eventually moved from New York to Los Angeles to pursue work in the cinematic field in the late 1970s. She is known for Fridays (1980–1982), Newhart (1987–1990), and Seinfeld (1987–1990).
