He was an American actor, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He joined the end of the silent period of cinema. After high school graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and enrolled at the University of Southern California. He worked as an assistant probation officer so he could pay for his studies. Then he attended Harvard University in Cambridge to study law. After returning to Los Angeles, he began acting in silent cinema, making short films. During the sound era, he played supporting and secondary roles and joined the golden age of cinema and television. He is known for Adventures of Superman (1958), The Phantom of 42nd Street (1945), and Trial Marriage (1928). He was married two times, one of which was to actress Poppy Wilde. He died at the age of 65 on April 5, 1968, in California, USA.
