Shaimaa Saied |
An Iraqi writer and storyteller, born in Kirkuk. Until the age of eight, he knew only the Kurdish language, and he learned Turkmen in the neighborhood in which he grew up. He traveled to the United States to work in Hollywood, but he failed and returned after only one year to Kirkuk.
He devoted himself to writing and was a member of the Kirkuk Literary Group, which was founded in the 1960s. His stories were published in various magazines, including Al-Aqlam. Four master’s theses were written about Al-Qaisi’s work in the universities of Mosul, Tikrit, Diyala, and Sulaymaniyah. His work includes the play Guevara Is Back, Open the Doors! (1974). He died in July 2006, after undergoing surgery in a hospital in Ankara, Turkey.
