She was an American actress, born on January 16, 1922, in Mishawaka, Indiana, USA, as Irene Vergauwen. After her graduation from Mishawaka High School, she went to New York to pursue an acting career. Small, uncredited appearances in 1940s films marked the beginning of her career. In spite of the fact that Vernon's film career came to an end in 1952, she started acting in television roles in the 1950s. She is known for her roles in Fireside Theatre (1949), Bewitched (1964), and The Sound of Fury (1950). She was married to Emmanuel Rosenberg. She died on April 21, 1998, in South Bend, Indiana, USA, from congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease.
