His mother, Fengdi Fang, was captain of the Chinese national women's basketball team. During his basketball career, he suffered from two major foot injuries. In 2016, he was selected to be in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. As as actor, he is known for Ma lan hua (2009), Amazing (2013) and Yao Ming and Children Affected b HIV/AIDS (2005).
