Biography

An Iraqi writer, born in Kirkuk. He completed his primary education in 1952. He was arrested in 1956 after his participation in a demonstration that roamed the streets of Kirkuk in support of the Egyptian people in the Battle of Port Said and in denunciation of the Tripartite...Read more Aggression. He finished his high school studies in 1958, and in 1959, he published his first play "A Celebration in April" in the Voice of Students newspaper. He graduated from the University of Baghdad - Department of Arabic Language in 1962. In 1968, he published his first book, the play "The Secret". He moved to the city of Baqubah in 1969, where he lived for nearly 37 years. His first play that was presented outside of Iraq was "The Question", which was shown in Kuwait, followed by other performances in other Arab countries. In 2004, he worked as editor-in-chief of the Alam and Athar series that was published by the House of Cultural Affairs - Baghdad, and in 2006, he moved with his family to the city of Sulaymaniyah, where he received support from the regional government and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. The Sardam Foundation for Publishing hosted him as a cultural advisor to its magazine, Sardam Al Arabi. Most of his literary works were reprinted with the support of the Sardam Foundation, the Ministry of Culture in the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. On August 21, 2010, he passed away in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
