He appeared in many roles in cinema and television, in addition to his stage work in the Royal Shakespeare Company, and his radio work. He married actress Sarah Lawson, they had two children, and she stayed with him until his death. Among his notable works are UFO (1971), Glencannon (1959), and The Long Haul (1957). He died in London, England, UK on July 28, 2006.
