An Iraqi singer, born in Basra Governorate, Iraq. He started his career by joining the military theater in 1971. In his early years, he formed a duo with composer Jaafar El Khafaf, and they presented several songs, including "Mojarrad Kalam" (Just Words). He also performed the opening credit songs for a number of TV series, including His Heart in the City. He got married and fathered four children, including singer Rahma Riyad. He died on March 7, 1997, as a result of a heart attack.
