An American actor, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on March 6, 1924, as Charles Lindsay Workman Jr. He married Patricia R. Robinson (1957-1977) and they had two children before their divorce. Among his most important works are Buffalo Rider (1976), The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear (1991), That Girl (1970), and Westworld (1973).
Workman was a serious-looking character and voice actor with a career in film and television that began in the fifties and continued till the early nineties. He also worked as a child on the radio and presented commercials with his distinguished voice. He went to Pomona College and Yale University, where he studied literature and acting. He appeared almost exclusively on television in the sixties and seventies as an inspector, doctor, judge, priest, and other upright figures. Moreover, he was a faculty member in the theater department at Scripps College. He died at the age of 88 in Claremont, California, USA, on April 24, 2012.
