American actor, writer, and singer, born in Lexington, Nebraska, USA, on April 24, 1901. Ray was married to singer Edith Evans (1933-1948) and they had one child, with whom she remained until his death. He provided supporting and additional roles as a singer and actor in roles such as policeman, detective, driver, pianist, musician, mechanic, follower, photographer, and circus player. Among his most important works are The Arizonan (1935), I Married a Doctor (1936), Seven Keys to Baldpate (1935), and Make Way for Tomorrow (1937). He died in Salt Lake, Utah, USA, on November 22, 1948, of a heart attack.
