A British actor, born in London, England, United Kingdom. His most notable works include The Ace of Scotland Yard (1929), Seven Keys to Bald Pate (1929), Women: Men Marry (1931), and Silas Marner (1922). He was an English-born Hollywood actor who appeared in English theater before moving to the United States. He appeared in American silent films from 1915 onwards, and continued working after the introduction of sound. He was prolific until the early 1950s, often playing roles as doctors or soldiers. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, following a heart attack at the age of 71.
